Best Openers when Online Dating
I'm trying to think of the best email opener when dating online.
Well for one thing don't send a copy of the same mail to everyone - I know its much easier but if you are genuinely interested in someone then you need to write specifically to them. You should point out whatever it was that caught your attention in the first place - like "hey, I see you like Jellyfish hunting, well I'm just back from world Jellyfish hunting exhibition"
Definitely be honest - you will get caught out if you pretend to be someone you're not and you want people to like you for who you are not who you think they want you to be.
The written word can be misinterpretted easier than the spoken word so it's not as easy as it may seem. Humour must be carefully written asking someone "what end of the bath do you lie in?" could be seen as a funny quirky question that shows an abstract sense of humour or could be seen as being a bit purvey! So when you're writing humour make it very clear that it is exactly that - humour.

Ah yes, please please please don't send same message to everyone - especially if you're going to forget who you've sent it to...and end up sending it multiple times! I always think the nicest way to open conversation is to pick up on similar interests in the person's profile, and ask questions about it. It shows you've taken the time to read someone's profile! Also, a nice simple 'hi there, how are you enjoying the site' is great for an opening gambit!

I would just like to ask some of the lads on this site why they feel compelled to mention that they are feeling a bit randy, to put it politely, when I ask them how they are. It's like this, everyone knows how difficult it is to meet a partner these days cos usually in clubs etc they are just after the one thing. So when you try a dating site and pluck up the courage to contact someone it's very disheartening to get the following reply, ya might as well go to the club as usual! "Hi how are you?" "I'm fine thx, maybe a bit horney" or "Grand I went hillwalking today, a good walk makes me horney" I mean to say, what are ya supposed to reply to that?? To me it's a real conversation stopper so I just cut it off, pardon the pun, and hope the next fella has a bit of tact. Maybe because I usually only get the chance to log on quite late that's how they're feeling but for goodness sakes lads, keep it to yourselves please!
