Thanks but No Thanks

This topic came up in the chat room on Sunday and I think it's an interesting one. How do you politely tell someone that you're not interested in them?
You don't want to be rude but you also don't want to hear from them again. I always find something like this hard as I hate to hurt people's feelings and so I end up only half telling them and more often than not they just don't get it. So you need to be definite but not rude or mean - easy to say.

How about - "I'm just seeing someone at the moment but if things don't work out I'll be in contact with you" - At least this puts the ball in your court to make the next move and firmly takes it out of theirs.
Or you could go for the old reliable it's not me it's you routine but this is so transparent that it doesn't make anyone look good.
Of course it is easier to do it on an online dating website as it is written rather than said, and then you can block them so that you don't know if they are trying to contact you or not!
